My Lord shepherds me. He leads me where He wants, and needs, me to be; He feeds me food that will sustain me in this life to fulfill His purpose: to honor and glorify God.
Lately, this has become part of my daily prayer and praise time. First, this verse acknowledges that I have claimed possession of Jehovah to lead me through this life. He is my Leader and will take me where I need to be to fulfill His purpose. I trust that my Shepherd knows the path that I need to follow, even if I don't know the destination. Next, I will feed on what He has placed before me. I trust that the food, His Word, will nourish and sustain me for whatever lies ahead.
And with Jehovah as my Shepherd, what could possibly be found lacking in my life? This is an important question for me to consider whenever I have talked myself into believing that what I have planned has precedence over His leading, or when I foolishly pursue something that I "want" but don't need.
Finally, you can't take the teacher out of the classroom; there is a cause-effect application to this verse for me that makes a pretty definitive statement:
Because the Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing lacking in my life to keep me from giving honor and glory to God.
Who is the Shepherd of your life?
