It is so true! When we get in a hurry, when we load our plates with too much to do, when we always have the television or radio on, when we are always with a lot of other people, we find ourselves slipping farther and farther away from our relationship with God. That's what Matthew 13 - the parable of the sower and seed talks about. The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches can pull us away from God and from His Word growing in our hearts that we can be fruitful to His glory.
How do you find quiet time when your life is so busy? What can you possibly cut out of your busy life? Is it possible to maintain a good relationship with God if you snatch a moment here and there?
I don't know. I still struggle with priorities in my life. I have lots of ideas of things to do. They are not any of them bad, in and of themselves. But if I substitute doing things for seeking Jesus Christ, I'm making a poor decision. For what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul.
I have to think in terms of eternity. Every project, every task, every thing that I take on must be evaluated in terms of eternity and glorifying God in the here and now.
But you know what? Making those evaluations means thinking about all of the tasks, and thinking about them requires time. To even begin the process of prioritizing means finding time to do it! It's not easy. But, you know what, in the end, it's worth it. It could truly be a matter of life or death - spiritually.
