Ron likes a pot of coffee to start his day.
Jennifer likes cuddle time with Dad to start her day.
Our predilection for habits is almost synonymous with being human.
So think for a minute of a habit you wish you had:
*** starting each day with prayer time
*** longer or more consistent Bible study
*** community outreach
*** more frequent contact with friends or family
*** eating a healthier diet
Whatever habit you wish you had, stop to think for a minute why it isn’t a habit. It’s because you’re in the habit of not having that habit. When we’re stuck in a habit that we don’t particularly like, we say that we’re stuck in a rut. But it’s really the same thing: we are creatures of habits living habitually.
So the next time you are convicted of a new habit you need to start, make a concerted effort to overcome your present habit of starting it . . . tomorrow.
