My husband really likes to go shopping. I don't. So for the past few months, he has done the majority of our grocery shopping. I make a list; he gets whatever's on the list and whatever else he thinks looks yummy. So I had put cocoa on the list. We'd gone to some friends' home and I'd made brownies. I used up the cocoa and knew I needed to replenish my cupboard. When he got home from the store and I was putting everything away, I didn't see the cocoa. So I asked if he'd gotten some. He said that he had - two containers. I figured I'd already put them away and just wasn't paying attention.
Then on Tuesday morning, I got up early to make my daughter's request for her birthday - a chocolate angel food cake. The batter was all mixed up. I just needed to add the cocoa. Guess what. I couldn't find any. Then it hit me! He got cocoa - as in hot chocolate mix. I'd wondered at the time why he'd gotten that. We haven't been drinking a lot of hot chocolate lately.
So I made a regular angel food cake. Then, when he got back from the store, I made a chocolate angel food cake. Somehow I don't think the consequences to his actions are going to serve as much of a deterrent. He got to eat two homemade angel food cakes!
As funny as this is, it makes me very grateful that I have the Holy Spirit working on my behalf to speak to God when I don't have the words to utter or when I don't speak clearly.
Enough said.
